This engraved wooden plaque is provided by the Ontario Horticultural Association. One nomination may be made each year by each Society within a District to the District director in a letter giving full details of the nominee's qualifications. From these nominations, the District executive may select one award winner per year. The name of the recipient is to be submitted to the Association Awards Coordinator by the District director at least four months before the award is to be presented.
Criteria for candidate selection are:
1. An individual who has given effective service to a Society or District, preferably for a minimum of 15 years
2. An individual who has given extensive service to horticulture, apart from participation in horticultural Societies

Kathy Buller of Kapuskasing 2019 Recipient!
For the past 19 years, Kathy Buller has given steady, faithful, low keyed, service to the Kapuskasing Horticultural Society and District 12.
Since 2001, she has continuously served on the Board of the Society in many roles: Director, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, President, Publicity Chair, Garden Tour Convener , Planting Committee Chair, Newsletter Editor, Show Chair, and District 12 Delegate,
Kathy is a willing volunteer
-at the Annual Flower and Vegetable Show making entry tags available at her home, assisting with set-up, the entrance display, photography, and the welcome table.
- attending and assisting with all executive, general meetings, and workshops.
- working diligently and cheerfully at all the spring and fall planting bees, biannual plant sales, and all district meetings hosted by the society.
-generously using her creative clerical and publishing skills in the production of Society newsletters, show books, and garden tour brochures
She always keeps in mind the best interest of the society, the members, and the community with her thoughtful, wise suggestions about events and activities.
She has brought the Society into the digital age with web site oversight and e-mail distribution of newsletters.
She has been instrumental in keeping society members and the community informed of society activities through the society newsletter, postings and photos on the Facebook page, and local radio, TV, and newspaper submissions.
Kathy's keen love of gardening is reflected in her leadership on the planting committee, conscientious planting, fertilizing, watering and weeding of the society garden, and persistent recruiting of garden tour properties for the Garden Tour.
As Secretary- Treasurer of District 12 Kathy Buller has maintained and presented excellent minutes and financial statements as well as warmly greeting and registering attendees as they have arrived at the AGM and Fall Planning Meetings.
