Fate of KL Horticultural Society hangs in the balance

Kirkland Lake could be on the verge of losing one of its most historically important organizations
The Kirkland Lake Horticultural Society will be holding a meeting May 18th to decide its fate.
Since 1934 the society has been run by a small group of dedicated citizens who do their best in so many ways to help beautify the town.
Over the years its members have held flower shows, organized gardens walks, brought in guest speakers and did their best to teach people the art of gardening.
The society has also been at the forefront of keeping the town beautified through the planting of flowers across the community.
Unfortunately many members are now seniors and cannot carry on performing these tasks and the group is reaching out hoping to find new people to take over.
The Society will hold a meeting at the Legion on May 18th. If there is not enough interest in keeping the organization running, they will begin the process of folding. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the society and volunteering their time are encouraged to attend. The meeting is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm.
